Even though February is often referred to as the Love-month, it unfortunately also has a reputation for being the worst month of the year. We did a little asking around and found that many individuals describe February as being bleak, freezing cold, wet, dark, miserable and lonely. Ugggh, right?! But hold on for a minute, we have some ideas to brighten these Winter days. It may not be our favourite month of the year, but it is the shortest, and there are actually many fantastic ways to make the most of this season. Hang in there as we inch closer to sunnier days and the promise of Spring blossoms.

NATURE

Did you know that researchers are studying the link between humans and our connection to nature? It is called ecopsychology. They’ve been able to discover that all it takes for a vast improvement in our physical, mental and emotional well-being is to spend 2 hours per week in nature. That is only about 18 minutes a day spent in nature to feel healthier and to experience improved cognitive function! Now that you’ve learned all it takes is 18 minutes to be a happier you, where should you start? Well, believe it or not, there are actually over 50 community parks in the Township! Here is a small sampling of the parks available in the Township to get you started, however we are confident you’ll be able to find one that is conveniently close to you no matter where you live in the Township!

Healthy eating is not really about depriving yourself of your favourite foods, it’s more about eating a wide variety of foods in balanced amounts to give your body what it needs. It may seem that it goes without saying that visiting a spa has numerous benefits, however it is an often-overlooked avenue to help you relax and reduce stress.
