Fort Langley Cranberry Festival
March 22, 2019
In 1995 a small group of community minded people formed a committee and started the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival, to honor the little red berry’s history in the village. After a few years, the festival was given to the Fort Langley Business Improvement Association to take the celebration to the next level. 2017 realized the 22nd Annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival with more then 60,000 attendees. Its appeal is broad- based and the festival continues to grow in size and scope.
This one-day only event kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 8:30am. Throughout the day over 100 marketplace vendors line Glover Road displaying their wares, 16 popular food trucks offer something for everyone. There is a schedule of live entertainment and more then 20 teams participate in the Cranberry Festival Regatta. The children’s area, stationed at the Fort Langley Community Hall, includes face painters, balloon artists and the Creative Cube, all providing plenty of fun for the kids. There are also fun exhibits nearby at the Langley Centennial Museum, BC Farm Museum and the Fort National Historic Site.
And of course, there are copious amounts of fresh local cranberries for attendees to purchase.
British Columbia is the third largest producer of cranberries in the world and this festival is one of three in Canada. It is the only one in our province. Ocean Spray donates approximately 10,000 pounds of the ruby red fruit to our event. The BC cranberry harvest accounts for roughly 12% of North America’s crop! Also available for purchase is everything from cranberry wine, beer, soaps, baking, preserves, dog treats and even cranberry inspired jewelry.
We hope you come and join our celebration of all things cranberry!
