Murrayville House Movie Nights in the Park

July 22 - August 5
Movie Nights in the Park presented by Murrayville House are starting July 22nd with Back to the Future, July 25th Home and August 5th is Pirates of the Caribbean. All movies start at dusk at Denny Ross Memorial park, but family activities on each day begin at 4pm. Moviegoers are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army Community Food Bank.

Brigade Days

August 1 - August 3
Join HBC workers, Aboriginal traders, and trappers as they swap stories, play music, and show off traditional skills such as carding and spinning wool and open fire cooking. The weekend features a large period encampment, and the “Arrival of the Fur Brigades” canoe re-enactment at 1 pm Monday. Regular admission, free for annual pass holders.

Come Forage

August 2
Fraser Common Farm is hosting the third annual Come Forage farm dinner event, conceived and created by, Chef Chris Whittaker of Forage restaurant. A terrific chef, local award winning beer from Four Winds brewing, superb wine from Lotusland vineyards, cheeses from Farm House, local, ethically raised pork from Laurica Farm, live entertainment, and of course certified organic produce grown right here on the farm. This will be the perfect way to spend a Sunday evening on the farm! Upon arrival you will take a farm tour and assist Chef Whittaker by foraging items for the evening meal. Next a reception with complimentary beverages, and musical guests, followed by a truly remarkable, and taste tantalizing dinner. Nestled in the Fraser Valley, Fraser Common has been committed to providing social and educational experiences for more than thirty years. By attending this fundraising dinner, you are helping to continue the work and vision of the farm.

Civic Holiday at Chaberton Winery

Darla & Roy will be singing up a storm! Two food trucks, "Hot Grandma's Kitchen" and "Casalinga Carts", will be here and they'll both be open for business in our parking lot! Pick up s bottle of your favourite wine from our Wine Shop to enjoy with the food and music. A selection of gourmet cheeses, pates, cold cuts, crackers and chocolates will also be available in the Wine Shop.

Fort Langley Brigade Days

August 3
On Monday, August 3rd, you are invited to join the Fort Langley Canoe Club as they re-enact the voyageurs' arrival at the Fort to trade their furs. The fun starts at 7:30 a.m. when we take a bus to Matsqui, launch our boats in the Fraser River, and paddle downstream for a 1 p.m. arrival back in Fort Langley. No paddling experience is required. Visit the BC Farm Museum, Aug 1-3rd from 10 am to 3 pm and see the Fraser Valley G Scale Friends operate a large portable model train layout where they run garden scale trains using electric and live steam locomotives. Admission by donation. 9131 King Street, Ft Langley, BC

BC Day Family Fun

August 3
Celebrate BC Day with some family fun at the Farm Museum in Fort Langley. The Model G Railroad Club will be showing all weekend. On Monday we add live historic demonstrations, music, scavenger hunt and much more. 9131 King Street

2:00-6:30pm Celebrate local meats, produce, cheeses, wines and more at this annual sustainable food festival! Free children's farm and food activities, free canning demonstration for adults. Prospera Credit Union Cinema Under the Stars

August 7 - August 20
Prospera's Cinema Under The Stars is a movie broadcast on a massive screen in an outdoor setting. This event begins at dusk in Willoughby Park located on 200th street beside the Langley Events Centre. Bring your own blankets or chairs and come early as seating is first come, first served. There will be popcorn and activities for the kids. Donations collected at this event go to Big Brothers Big Sisters Langley. On August 7th they will be showing Home and August 20th they will be showing Cinderella

Meteor Shower Watch and Walk: Astronomy Event Aldergrove Lake Regional Park

August 8
On Saturday August 8th at the Aldergrove Bowl entrance, please join us at our annual Perseid Meteor Shower Watch at Aldergrove Lake Regional Park. ​Gaze at the sky through telescopes, meet astronomers and walk lantern-lit trails. Crafts, fun learning activities, music and entertainment. Overnight camping available; campers must arrive between 5 and 8 pm. Event runs rain or shine. This year, Aldergrove Elks Lodge #66 will provide an evening concession with coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. In addition, campers can enjoy a Sunday morning breakfast. CASH ONLY. Proceeds support BC Elks Association and Aldergrove community initiatives.

Garden Party & Tour

August 8
In the lovely setting of Michaud Heritage House you can stroll through the beautiful garden featuring delightful and whimsical scenarios, enjoy tea and delicious scones and sit by the river listening to live music. The proceeds from this event are donated to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign. This campaign supports the African grandmothers raising their grandchildren due to HIV/AIDS. The Water Shed hosts a Community Feast :: Oil & Vinegar

August 8
Join us for a night of incredible food, drink and celebration. Showcasing oils and balsamics from local business 'All of Oils', Water Shed chef Jenn Cornish will be preparing a 3 course meal to tantalize the taste buds. Glenn and Kimm from 'All of Oils' will be with us for the night and opportunity will be given during the feast to hear about the world of oil vinegar and food. There is both a vegetarian ($35) and meat lovers option ($40). Call or stop in at The Water Shed or All of Oils (Langley branch) in order to reserved your space.

MEC Langley Sprint Triathlon

August 9
MEC Langley is very excited to be hosting the triathlon again, on Sunday August 9th, after such a successful inaugural event! This short format (sprint distance) tri is ideal for those looking to complete their first multi-sport event, as well as a great training event for experienced triathletes. The event starts at the WC Blair Recreation Centre in Langley with a 750m pool swim. A rolling start will ensure participants have plenty of space for the swim. The cycling leg is a 20km route that heads south toward the US border and the quiet, mostly flat rural roads of the Langley area. The run segment is a 5km out-and-back that heads west of WC Blair. This event will be chip-timed to ensure accurate results for each finisher, with medals for top male and female finishers in each age category. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

MEC Langley Duathlon

August 9
MEC Langley is very excited to be adding a duathlon to the triathlon event on Sunday August 9th. The event starts at the WC Blair Recreation Centre in Langley with a 5k run, followed by a 20k cycling leg that heads south toward the US border and the quiet, mostly flat rural roads of the Langley area. 22nd Annual Arts Alive Festival

August 15
On Saturday August 15th from 10am to 5pm marks the 22nd Annual Arts Alive Festival. With over 200 visual and performing artists, our festival has become a signature event in the lower mainland. This free, family event features live musical performances, artists and artisans showcasing a myriad of mediums, live demonstrations, a children's venue and special performance surprises throughout the day!

Campbell Valley Wine Route Summer Wine Fest

August 16
Join us the four wineires of the Campbell Valley Wine Route (Backyard, Chaberton, Township 7 and Vista d'oro) for a fun filled afternoon in the Campbell Valley's very own wine region. Each winery will host guests to live music, complementary culinary offerings and tastings of their newest releases. Starting at noon until 4pm on August 16th!

Learn and experiment with encaustic painting techniques In this inspiring 2-day workshop you’ll learn to layer and fuse wax, build up colours and scrape them away to reveal the layers beneath, work with oil pigments, embed paper, fabric and objects – and so much more! West Fine Art Show

August 20 - August 23
The West Fine Art Show is a unique partnership with the Langley Hospice Society and West Fine Art Society, responsible for creating and bringing one of BC’s largest and most prestigious artists to the Fraser Valley. Our 6th Annual West Fine Art Show and Sale, and will be hosted by Langley’s Thunderbird Show Park, August 20th to 23rd, 2015 during one of their International Hunter Jumper Shows - The CSI2’ & WCHR Summer Fort Festival, which draws competitors from around the world, and spectators galore. This show creates some fabulous opportunities to interact with the artists who are onsite throughout the weekend, and is open to the public. Langley Fest

August 22 - August 23
On August 22 & 23rd, the Langley's International Festival Society is celebrating its 15th annual festival at the 'Willoughby Community Park' just outside the Langley Events Centre, located at 7888 - 200 Street. Both days will be full of entertainments as hundreds of dancers and musicians from different cultures have been confirmed to perform on the Main stage. At the Food Pavilion, you will find 15 food vendors having different cultural foods, over 60 vendors from around the world selling items like handmade jewellery, clothing, and gifts, and many other activities such as International Pavilions, Art Gallery, rides, Parade of Nations, and so on. Everyone is cordially invited to come and enjoy multicultural entertainment through colorful ethnic performances, visual arts, visiting an international marketplace, taste different cultural foods, and many more activities. The entry will be by donation $2/each or $5/family.

Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath

Flatiron Art in the Park

September 19

Judy Nygren, Pat Barker Art of the Pencil Studio, as well as myself, Susan Galick Artist, will be holding our first exhibition as a group. Please join us to mingle, watch us demo plus listen to awesome jazz music by local musician Dave Quinn of RazzMaJazz. Our galleries will also be open. Dave Quinn will be performing a duo of jazz from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. RazzMaJazz is a popular local band playing each Saturday at Leləm’ Arts and Cultural Cafe. Located in the award-winning community of Bedford Landing, the FLATIRON shares the name of New York’s iconic landmark. While most people think the building got its name from its resemblance to a cast-iron household iron, in fact, the triangular area where it was built, contained by Broadway, Fifth Avenue, 22nd Avenue and 23rd Streets, had been known as the Flat Iron District, long before the building’s construction. You’ll find the Flatiron in Fort Langley, located across from the Bedford Channel and the Fort-to-Fort Trail.

Circus in the Plaza
