WOW - Abstract Art Exhibition

July 1 - July 31
The Malek Gallery in Langley is pleased to present Paul W Sharpe aka Wizard of Wonders. His art is about deep thinking dimensions, which takes viewers into another world, another dimension of our brain, employing chaotic geometrical elements. This exhibition will be on display July 1 through 31, feel free to drop in and view the art from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday-Saturday. Family Night in the Wild

July 12 - August 23
Bring your family and join the fun for our annual "Family Night in the Wild" events this summer! Starting in July and then in August we are offering a special evening for you and your family to experience sleeping overnight at the Zoo in our magnificent picnic area - right next to where the night animals live! Once night falls, our guides and volunteers will accompany you on a walking safari throughout the Zoo so you can observe the behaviour of our animals before dusk. This extremely fun-filled event includes hot chocolate and marshmallows while we tell stories, play games and/or sing songs (guitars are welcome). During the night you will not get much sleep as you will hear the lions roaring, wolves howling and a few feathered friends will make sure you are awake in the morning! This is camping so you need to bring your tent. And speaking of morning, we will serve you a light breakfast; then you will meet a Zookeeper and learn about an animal plus enjoy a narrated train ride around the perimeter of the Zoo. Ride into History

July 25 - July 26
The Ride Into History event is expected to draw families, individuals and motorcycling enthusiasts alike to partake in multiple festivities all in support of the Salvation Army’s Gateway of Hope. Friday July 25th will kick off the weekend with a special evening right outside the walls of Fort Langley National Historic Site in the Orchard. There will be a Cruise ‘n’ Concert. Bring your classic car or motorbike, park it in the orchard and enjoy the concert, while showing off your vehicle. Live rockin’ tribute concert. The concert is open to all ages and families with admission by donation. Saturday July 26th will start off at The Fort with a pancake breakfast, the 3-hour scenic motorcycle poker run (which includes lunch), ending up at the Gateway of Hope for a fun motorcycle skills event, with the day finishing off with a dinner banquet provided by Milestones. Registration will be available up until event date but be sure to sign up before July 1st to guarantee banquet and t-shirt.

Demos in the Garden

August 3 - August 4
Celebrate the 2014 BC Day weekend in Fort Langley and include a visit to the Birthplace of BC Gallery where artists will be plein air painting and demonstrating on August 3rd and 4th. Both days from 11am-4pm in the gallery gardens, artists will be showcasing their art forms in jewelry, pottery, sculptures and painting. The gallery is located at 9054 Glover Road.

BC Day Celebration at the BC Farm Museum

Join us Sunday, August 3rd and Monday 4th (BC DAY) at the BC Farm Museum in Fort Langley where you can watch the trains and discuss their operation." Kids love to watch these trains! On the holiday Monday there will also be rope making demonstrations. Take a photo of the kids in our “old farm buggy” Some of our more interesting Stationary Engines will be operating and our volunteers will tell you all about them. The Dempster Windmill will be operating and pumping water. The popular “Scavenger Hunt” will be available for families to enjoy.

Langley Good Times Cruise-in

September 6
This show was started in 1997 as a way to encourage people to visit downtown Langley and to bring more business to the downtown shops and restaurants. When the organizers found how popular the event is, they turned it into a charity fundraiser too. Here we are 17 years later and this show has grown beyond the wildest dreams of the original organizers yet we still hold it for the same reasons, to bring people to downtown Langley and to raise money for local charities. Our show, as usual, occupies the first Saturday after Labour Day. This year that is Saturday September 6th, 2014. And as usual, we will have our swap meet and car corral the next day, Sunday, September 7th.   Fraser Highway 206th to 208, Douglas Crescent and the Cascades Parking lot.

The 27th Annual BC Senior Games

September 9 - September 13
Since 1988, the BC Seniors Games Society has been staging the BC Seniors games. The games are an annual, multi-sport event hosted by a different community in BC each year. On average, 3,500 to 4,000 athletes from around BC, compete in 25-30 sports.

The BBQ on the Bypass is also the site of the Great BC Bake Off, an annual amateur pie baking competition, open to the public.

There is nothing that compares to the atmosphere of a football game on a late September afternoon... the sights and sounds around the stadium... the smell of fried onions and ball park burgers on the grill and the taste of a cold beer or other beverage... well it just doesn't get any better. The Langley Rams host Nanaimo's VI Raiders in what is sure to be a fall classic as two of the Nations top ranked teams battle for position as the regular season winds down. Langley Rams vs VI Raiders games are always intense and entertaining affairs and this one will not disappoint! Tickets are available at the main gate 1 hour prior to kickoff or in advance at www.langleyrams.com Admission: Adults: $12 Students/Seniors: $5 Kids: Free Kickoff is 4PM at the scenic McLeod Park Stadium. Map Link. Junior Football is a college level of football for players aged 18-22, the Langley Rams currently have three players on their roster with ties to the CFL, Anthony Daley is an offensive lineman who attended the BC Lions training camp, defensive lineman Dylan Roper was a 6th round draft pick of the BC Lions and receiver Tore Corrado was a 6th round draft pick of the Toronto Argonauts. BC Lions kicker Paul McCallum is a former Rams player and Lions running back Andrew Harris is a product of the VI Raiders. Check out this popular studio tour, now in it's sixth year. Over 50 artists were represented in the 2013 tour. Download or pick up a guide map and plan your route! Visit the working studios of Langley's many talented artists and artisans. Watch artists at work, chat with them about their inspiration and process, and maybe even buy some local art!

Campbell Valley Wine Run

A very scenic almost 15K Wine Run from High Point through the trails of Campbell Valley to visit the beautiful wineries in the area. Stop and visit each one and sample their wines. This run is not a race and will not be officially timed. It is all about having fun by running, wine tasting and socializing! Enjoy post-run entertainment and catering by Well-Seasoned.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the Campbell Valley Wine Route and at the same time raise some money for two local groups that add value to our community: Critter Care Wildlife Society and the Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities.

The supporting wineries are: Vista D'oro, Backyard Vineyeards, Township 7 and Domain De Chaberton. Run course organizer is Peninsula Runners. Also supported by Well Seasoned, Sky Helicopters and High Point Equestrian Centre. Wine prizes for the best constumed individual, best costumed team, and best surviving costume.

The Dover Quartet

Considered one of the most remarkably talented string quartets ever to emerge at such a young age, the Dover Quartet swept the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, winning the Grand Prize as well as all three Special Prizes. LCMS is fortunate to have them as part of their winner's tour to B.C. Programme includes Beethoven's Quartet in A Major, Op. 18 No. 5; Bartok's Quartet No.1; and Beethoven's Quartet in C Major, Op. 59, No. 3, "Razumosky".
