Keeping to the theme of our recent posts, if you have a sentimental longing for the ways of the past, a little gem found in our historic village of Fort Langley is sure to quench your nostalgic thirst. Located on Glover Road in the heart of the charming ‘Birthplace of BC’, Cafe Planet Java pays homage to a time of classic rock and roll. Decked out in Elvis memorabilia, Marilyn Monroe’s smile lights up the walls, and their famous milkshakes are just some of the draws for visitors and locals alike.
The age of the jukebox is not over at this local favourite, as every booth comes standard with its own personal music machine offering your choice of 50’s & 60’s tunes for only a quarter. A life size Elvis statue sits near the window enticing those strolling by to pop in for a bite, or snap a photo with the famous rock star.
When it comes to the food, expect the standard menu of burgers and fries, milkshakes, floats, and onion rings. The portions are big, the food is delicious, and the service is timely. After a juicy burger and gigantic milkshake, it might be wise to allot some time to wander the village, or stroll the Fort to Fort trail to work off your meal.
It is truly a sight to be seen, and an experience not to be missed. The next time you’re looking for a local lunch spot, think about grabbing a table in the past, put on your poodle skirt and practice your best ‘Hound Dog’.
