Canada day is this Friday so in lieu of this exciting holiday we thought we’d highlight all the fun events happening in Langley that are Celebrating Canada’s Birthday. These events range from large festivals to more intimate Canada Day food events to ensure there is a little something for everyone’s tastes. So, without further ado here is Langley’s Canada Day events for 2016!
Langley Canada Day JRBQ
Presented by the Township of Langley, The Langley Events Centre, and JRFM; this Canada Day festival kicks off at 11am in the Willoughby Community Park just adjacent to the LEC (Langley Events Centre). Come out with the whole family until 5pm to enjoy a range of great festivities such as a kid’s zone, food trucks, a spray park, and the JRFM BBQ! There will be live music all day as well, which is sure to make celebrating Canada’s Birthday that much more enjoyable. Fort Langley Canada Day Festivities
All of Fort Langley is sure to be ready to celebrate Canada’s 149th Birthday on Friday with two great events!
In the Village…
The village of Fort Langley has family fun events at several locations this year. Check out the children’s games & races, the on-stage music, singing & dancing and the FOOD on King Street. The Cool Balloon Guy and Aldor Acres Petting Zoo will thrill children while the Thunderbird Fast Draw Demo will excite dad. And that’s just the beginning! Take a hayride around the village that will stop at the festival of the book at the Community Hall, the CN rail station, the Centennial museum, the BC Farm museum and of course, The Fort. King street will be shut down for vendors, and to throw in a little bias, our ASK Langley team will be out with I.van participating in the passport program so stop by and get your stamps at our booth and the other participating vendors to win some great prizes! The festival runs from 10am until 3pm, however, at 7pm there will be a showing of Bard in the Valley’s Taming of the Shrew on the lawn in front of the Fort Langley community Hall as well! Inside the Fort…
The Fort Langley National Historic Site is offering fun filled activities inside the walls of the Fort as well! From 10am-5pm walk around inside and enjoy some great multicultural music and a massive Canada Day themed cake! The Fort and the Village combined are offering great events all day that will surely keep the whole family busy while keeping everyone in the Canada Day spirit!
Canada Day Cake Celebration!
Who doesn’t love to spoil themselves with cake on Canada Day…. I mean it is our Country’s Birthday Party so why not?! Willowbrook Shopping Centre is offering a complimentary piece of cake in their North Court from 11am- 2pm (while supplies last). Now, if you play your cards right you, can get a piece of cake from Willowbrook and also get some cake from Fort Langley in the same day… just sayin.
Chaberton 25th Anniversary Kick Off
Chaberton Estate Winery, part of the Campbell Valley Wine Route, happens to be celebrating their 25th anniversary this year! They have decided to kick off the first of 4 days of celebration on Canada Day. From noon until 4pm head on over to Chaberton Estate Winery for live music, a bbq by Doris’ European Deli which is featuring Bratwurst, Bavarian Smokies, and Turkey Wieners served with sides all for only $12, and of course wine tours and tastings. In addition to this, $1 for every 750ml bottle of wine sold will go to the BC Childrens Hospital. So don’t be shy and come celebrate Canada Day with friends over at Chaberton Estates. Canada Day Hog Roast
Last but not least, why not head over to Backyard vineyards for a good ol’ fashioned Hog Roast to celebrate Canada Day. The event runs from noon until 4:30pm and features a variety of genres of live music from. The Hog being roasted is a 100% certified Organic Hog from Langley’s own Laurica Farms! For 2 people the price is $48 which includes a 750ml bottle of 2015 Backyard Vineyards Rose.
