Visit Langley’s 9 Wineries & 2 Breweries!

Category: Wine & Food

In 1975, Claude and Inge Violet, having sold their winery and vineyard in France decided to start afresh in the New World. The pioneer spirit was not new to the Violet blood line as Claude’s family had been in the wine business since 1644. After visiting California, Ontario and the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Claude and Inge purchased the land where the present site of the Chaberton Estate Winery and the Bacchus Bistro are located.

Recommendations for how to spend a winter day in Langley, British Columbia

Categories: Activities & Recreation, Agritourism, Itineraries, Wine & Food

Winter is a magical season that, although it often doesn’t seem like it, doesn’t actually begin until the winter solstice on December 22nd. Generally, as soon as Halloween is over, and our pumpkins begin to rot, we change gears and plow head-first into the holiday season.

I can’t believe it’s already November! Where did October go? The start of November means two things, Christmas is around the corner and the rainy season is upon us. If you are like me, I love warm drinks and colder/rainier weather calls for that! Nothing is better, than sitting in a cozy café watching the rain come down, with some of your girlfriends or on a date. We are lucky in Langley to have some great cozy café’s for just that. Halloween Events & Traditions

Categories: Activities & Recreation, Agritourism, Heritage & Culture, Wine & Food

Halloween is a time to dress up as your favourite character. Costumes range from a Disney Princess, Superhero to a Minion. It is also a time to get scared out of your skin from the haunted houses you go to or scary movies you watch! As I little girl, I always loved dressing up. For a couple years in a row, I was a black cat. Why two years in a row as a black cat? I just loved being a black cat so why not wear it as many Halloween’s as possible!

Recommendations for how to spend an autumn day in Langley, British Columbia

Categories: Activities & Recreation, Itineraries, Shopping & Services, Wine & Food

September 23rd is the fall equinox. I await this day with anticipation every year. It’s the day that I can begin enjoying all things autumn-related, without being judged by my friends. “The PSL comes out way too early”, “It’s not pumpkin season yet”, “Boot weather isn’t for another month”, “Why don’t you wait until Thanksgiving to make pie” are some of the comments they make. For a reason that I cannot fathom, they just don’t understand fall like I do.

Okay, who’s excited for Thanksgiving? The golden-brown turkey, bursting with the perfect mix of stuffing, plus all the fixin’s – cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, oh the gravy! Wipe the drool off your chin for a moment and consider this – what if turkey dinner didn’t have to be a once or twice a year kind of thing? What if you could eat turkey every day?

Backyard Vineyards

Category: Wine & Food

When you mention BC wines, most Lower Mainlanders immediately think of the Okanagan. And fair enough! There are tons of great wineries in BC’s semi-arid interior. But few Greater Vancouverites seem to realize the quality of wines being produced right in their own backyard. The team at Backyard Vineyards knows that, and they’ve made it their mission to show off just what Langley is capable of producing.
