In recent weeks, one can’t help but notice that the local markets are abundant with gnarly gourds, smiling sunflowers, delicious artisan preserves and fresh fall fruits and vegetables from the fertile Fraser Valley soil. It’s harvest time, and a time of year when friends and family try to find time to come together to honor the season.
The leaves are changing and the days are getting shorter which means fall is upon us! Nestled between Highway 1 and the banks of the mighty Fraser River lies North Langley in all of its beauty. This serene, yet bustling, modern, yet historic setting provides some amazing contrast in its multiple communities. With that being said, the things to do in this area prove to be just as diverse as the communities themselves. Welcome to North Langley and to get you started here are 5 things to do in the area.
September brings so much to Langley! From pumpkins, apples and cranberries to great events like Campbell Valley Country Celebration and of course BBQ Off the Bypass! A few weeks ago we wrote a blog post about 5 things to do in South Langley. Now it’s time to highlight another area in Langley with the hopes of keeping everyone busy as summer winds down. This week it’s time to highlight the central Langley area. First let’s define where I’m talking about. Central Langley isn’t really a defined area within the Langley’s but we like to think of it as the City of Langley North of Brookswood, up to Highway 1 and as far east as about 232 street. Again, no one really calls this central Langley but for the purposes of this blog we needed some borders to keep us grounded. This area is shared by both the City of Langley and the Township and each municipality offer such great things to do within the space provided that we couldn’t not highlight a few of them. So let’s get started with 5 things to do in Central Langley!
We are so lucky to live in Langley, where local is key to everyone. We love the summer and fall months for their delicious berries and beautiful vegetables, that we can access! Today the Langley Eats Local event is happening at the Langley Community Farmer’s Market. In order to celebrate eating and supporting local, we decided to highlight where you can eat locally right in your own backyard!
It seems like just yesterday we were getting into the summer swing of things and now all of a sudden the last full month of summer is upon us. There has already been some great events this summer in Langley but don’t put away your sandals and sunscreen just yet! We still have a full month of events to go that will keep you busy throughout the rest of summer, so you can keep your mind off the fast approaching autumn season (unless you’re looking forward to the fall of course). Brigade days kicked off the month in Fort Langley with a bang, literally, so let’s keep this month rolling with tons more great events!
As cities grow and communities change it is sometimes difficult to hold on to the roots of how it all came to be. Many towns and cities merely bare the names of their former selves as they have grown and become changed with time. Langley has always been a farming and pioneering community, that is its roots. Now, Langley is growing fast and is as diverse as ever, which is one of its most positive features. But somehow amongst all the growth and change many of Langley’s communities have still managed to save glimpses of the past that are so important to hold on to. One of these such places is South Langley, the sense of community and agricultural roots is strong in this area and with that comes some pretty interesting things to do while touring this locale. Here are 5 things that you need to check out if you find yourself south of Fraser Highway.
