In recent weeks, one can’t help but notice that the local markets are abundant with gnarly gourds, smiling sunflowers, delicious artisan preserves and fresh fall fruits and vegetables from the fertile Fraser Valley soil. It’s harvest time, and a time of year when friends and family try to find time to come together to honor the season.
Whether you’re embracing it or trying to deny it, fall has arrived in Langley. The air has become crisp, the leaves are changing colour, and school is back in session. The most telling sign of all? The pumpkins.
The leaves are changing and the days are getting shorter which means fall is upon us! Nestled between Highway 1 and the banks of the mighty Fraser River lies North Langley in all of its beauty. This serene, yet bustling, modern, yet historic setting provides some amazing contrast in its multiple communities. With that being said, the things to do in this area prove to be just as diverse as the communities themselves. Welcome to North Langley and to get you started here are 5 things to do in the area.
September brings so much to Langley! From pumpkins, apples and cranberries to great events like Campbell Valley Country Celebration and of course BBQ Off the Bypass! September has managed to creep up out of nowhere! The temperatures will start to cool off but that doesn’t mean Langley events have to cool off this month. It looks like it’s going to be another busy month so find some time in your schedule to come out and enjoy what the community has to offer as we head into the fall. From soccer games to car shows, this month has a little bit of everything as the community of Langley is trying to hold on to the last bit of warm weather we have. Let’s see what’s in store!
A few weeks ago we wrote a blog post about 5 things to do in South Langley. Now it’s time to highlight another area in Langley with the hopes of keeping everyone busy as summer winds down. This week it’s time to highlight the central Langley area. First let’s define where I’m talking about. Central Langley isn’t really a defined area within the Langley’s but we like to think of it as the City of Langley North of Brookswood, up to Highway 1 and as far east as about 232 street. Again, no one really calls this central Langley but for the purposes of this blog we needed some borders to keep us grounded. This area is shared by both the City of Langley and the Township and each municipality offer such great things to do within the space provided that we couldn’t not highlight a few of them. So let’s get started with 5 things to do in Central Langley!
The Whitecaps FC 2 played their first of three matches in Langley this past weekend, and if the first game is any indication, the next two will be must see events for local soccer fans! Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) is the second team for the Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS. WFC2 play in the United Soccer League, which acts as a development league for the MLS.
Summer truly has sped by! It’s already August and September is just around the corner. Autumn in Langley is truly beautiful, the leaves falling, the crisp fall air, but that’s for another blog post. I’m here to talk about the other season that’s coming up… Hockey season! With the falling of leaves also comes the smoothing of ice, the yelling of fans, and the grinding of skates. Fall, however, will be even more special this year as Langley is set to welcome a new organization to their hockey community. The Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League are moving to the Langley Events Centre so I thought I’d write a little synopsis on their organization and what it will mean to have them joining the community of Langley!
