5 things to do in Central Langley

A few weeks ago we wrote a blog post about 5 things to do in South Langley. Now it’s time to highlight another area in Langley with the hopes of keeping everyone busy as summer winds down. This week it’s time to highlight the central Langley area. First let’s define where I’m talking about. Central Langley isn’t really a defined area within the Langley’s but we like to think of it as the City of Langley North of Brookswood, up to Highway 1 and as far east as about 232 street. Again, no one really calls this central Langley but for the purposes of this blog we needed some borders to keep us grounded. This area is shared by both the City of Langley and the Township and each municipality offer such great things to do within the space provided that we couldn’t not highlight a few of them. So let’s get started with 5 things to do in Central Langley!

The Willowbrook Shopping Centre is definitely a staple in Langley. Located on the City and Township border this mall offers 150 stores and services. One of it’s main draws is that Willowbrook has all the essential stores you need without being so big and overwhelming like some of the bigger malls out there. The range and variety in the shopping mall is top notch with great options from sporting goods to big box stores. The food court has all kinds of great food vendors to keep you going during those day long shopping sprees as well. Also, the mall is expanding in the future with over 140,000 square feet of open concept store space being added into the plaza along with many more cosmetic upgrades within the actual mall itself! 5.Enjoy a Whitecaps FC 2 game at McLeod Athletic Park

Yes, you read that right! You can catch pro soccer in Langley and boy is it a treat to watch. The Whitcaps FC 2 have 3 games at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park this season with the first one wrapping up with a thrilling ending last Sunday. In a last 10-minute comeback Thomas Sanner netted 3 goals to push WFC2 3-1 over Arizona United keeping the team tied with Sacramento for first place in the USL. If the next two games are anything like the last, Langley is in for some fantastic soccer. The venue proved ideal and the Whitecaps organization loved the Langley crowd. Aside from the main field, McLeod offers great baseball fields, tennis courts, a track, and even a covered ball hockey/ lacrosse arena. The next two games at McLeod go September 5th and 21st against Seattle and OKC respectively. Ticket information can be found at WFC2’s Website.
