The City of Langley has tons to offer, from a Downtown shopping area to recreation parks and paths! There may be a couple of things that might surprise you. Keep reading to find out!

1 – You can grow your own food in the City of Langley.The Stepping Stone - Linwood Community Garden

The City of Langley has several thriving community gardens for you to test the colour of your thumbs. Cooperative gardens like Linwood Park bordered by Michaud Crescent and 55A Avenue offers an escape from the everyday to grow your own vegetables, let your kids play in the playground, and even take your dog to the Off-leash dog park! Best of all, Langley has so many gardens that there is likely one right around the corner!

2 –  The City has a secret garden


Sendall Gardens, tucked away at the corner of 201A Street & 50th Avenue, offers nature lovers and escape from the every day with nearly 4 acres of botanical gardens, a tropical greenhouse, weeping sequoias and a relaxing creek and waterfall. Perfect for a wedding or Sunday picnic, Sendall Gardens is an escape worth the short drive to see.

3 – Langley is the Zumba capital of the Lower Mainland


Over the past few years Zumba has become one of the most popular courses at many of Langley’s gyms, with hundreds of brightly outfitted dancers Zumba-ing their way to fitness every day. It’s estimated that the total number of Zumba participants in Langley exceeds 20,000 each month! Langley boasts dozens of gyms and recreation centres, including the new Timms Community Centre that recently opened in February in the City of Langley. Timms Community Centre is a cultural and community hub with City Hall and FVRL library all in one facility.The Timms Community Centre has a gymnasium, weight room with state-of-the-art cardio equipment, indoor fitness track, dedicated spin room, fitness room with a wooden spring floor, games room, community kitchen and four multi-purpose rooms.


If you missed the Official Opening or want to experience the new Timms Community Centre again, come to the Open House  on Saturday, April 9th from 10:00am – 4:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this all-ages City of Langley event. The Open House will feature live entertainment, community booths, the Tourism Langley’s Mobile Visitor Services, a Youth Fundraiser BBQ, prizes and FREE classes and activities throughout the day including sports demos, kids arts and crafts, dance, SpinFit – even Zumba!  Langley truly is a Zumba lover’s paradise.

4 – The City of Langley has 6 distinct neighbourhoods

While only 10 square kilometers in size, the City of Langley boasts six distinct neighbourhoods, each with their own character and identity. At the North West corner, Nicomekl offers serene nature walks around quiet lakes, while Douglas in the North East is the City’s business and cultural hub with incredible shopping, parks, and events happening all the time. To the furthest south are Blacklock and Uplands, which offer quiet communities and schools perfect for enjoying Langley life.
