Stroll through gardens, farm markets, take in an equestrian event, meet an alpaca and see where the Hudson’s Bay Company first farmed … you can even milk a cow!
Explore the endless choices of the Langley Circle Farm Tour by downloading the brochure from the new Circle Farm Tour website, or by picking one up at any of the farm or sponsor locations throughout the Fraser Valley.
New to this year’s tour is a young, but already local favourite, Laurica Farm. The Finley family takes pride in their ‘customer certified’ organic farm where you can find organic and heirloom varieties of produce grown from non-GMO seed, purchased from Canadian companies. Animals are also pasture raised and free range. Above all else, this family-run farm values environmental stewardship and education, and believes in sharing their bounty. Learn more about Laurica Farm, and the many events planned for this summer on their website.
This year’s other new farm on the Langley Circle Farm Tour is the Fraser Valley Cider Company. This is the region’s first craft cider producer, and is scheduled to open in late May 2016. A visit to the Fraser Valley Cider Company will include the chance to sample cider varieties in the tasting room, as well as will provide a fantastic picnic location out in the orchard, where you can enjoy a cold glass of locally made cider. The cider is produced from unique apple varieties that you won’t find anywhere else. Learn more about the FVCC on their Facebook page.
16 farms, and 4 sponsors make up the rest of the self-guided tour. By choosing what you’re interested in, whether that’s goat cheese, gardening, alpaca fibre products, local bubbly or international show jumping, your day or weekend-long farm fresh adventures are sure to leave you with lasting memories, and the desire to escape to the country more often.
